Holy week 2020 in St. Charles
- 2020/04/05 -
The very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and strewed them on the road. The crowds preceding him and those following kept crying out and saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest.”
(Mt 21:8-9)
PALM SUNDAY
A royal entry. Its way paved with palm leaves and clothes. But the stones below cannot remain hidden for a long time. The Hosianna calls die away, the palm leaves wither, the flowers fade away.
HOLY THURSDAY
A last common
supper. There is the one that will sacrifice himself for all the others,
but the others have no idea of what is yet to come. One's last hours
are often the hardest.
GOOD FRIDAY
It's for the last
time. To be on one's way. But behold: it's a way of the cross, the worst
that can happen to man. There is the one that will accept it for us, he
carries it for us and all the pain of the world down to the last.
HOLY SATURDAY
A black day. Total sadness gets hold of us. Was everything in vain? Where is our God now?
